I love loose emotive paintings. One of my favourite painters is Marlene Dumas. I find her work very enticing and eerie. Here’s an image of her work.

Is this the style that you paint?

what is it about her work that creates a feeling of disturbance or uncomfort? Is it because of the nature of ink?

I think it definitely has to do with the nature of the ink. She uses it in a way that enhances its nature and lets it interact with the paper. Because she isn’t over controlling of it, there is a certain amount of ambiguity that makes the parts where she has manipulated it even more edgy.
